IOM Introduction
Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Learning Objecives
Working under the overall direction of the Chief of Mission, the intern will assist with the operational activities of the Mission. Tasks will include:
·Work under supervision of the National Program Officer on application and implementation of South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund (SSCAF). This may include responsibilities related to proposal development, coordination, communication and data collection.
·Provide administrative support including translation and interpretation, document collection and uploading;
·Support coordination and communication with stakeholders, preparing reports and communication materials;
·Coordinate with other IOM Field Missions, as necessary, to facilitate SSCAF application and implemention; and
·Undretake all other tasks as may be assigned.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants to IOM internships must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:
a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
b) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) or (b) above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
