Profile

·Applicants should have already completed a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and be completing at least a Master’s degree at the time of application. Should your studies not be divided into undergraduate and graduate steps, you must have already completed at least 3 years of full time studies at a University or equivalent institution and be in your 4th year of full time studies towards a same diploma;

·Excellent command of English and Chinese (oral and written);

·Good sense of teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to assigned tasks;

·Good computer and IT skills and experience in using Office software packages;

·Strong strategic, analytical skills;

·Good communication skills, including writing skills;

·Major in the field of natural sciences (environmental sciences, hydrology and engineering, etc.) will be considered an asset.

 Responsibilities

·Under the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist in Natural Sciences, the Intern shall perform the following functions related to implementation of the Natural Sciences programme:
Assist in the coordination and implementation of programmes and projects in the field of Natural Sciences (Man and the Biosphere Programme, Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme, Science-Technology-Innovation, Engineering);

·Provide administrative support;

·Assist with drafting, translating and proofreading of project documents and reports;

·Assist in coordination and organization of project-related events and meetings;

·Assist with designing, drafting and proofreading public outreach materials and news items for the UNESCO website and social media platforms;

·Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Important

·The duration of the internship is between four and six months, at least four days each week, full-time preferred. A starting date on 17 Jan 2022 is preferred.

·The aim of the internship is to provide you with professional experience in an international organization which relates to and supplements your studies. An internship affords you the opportunity to work in a multicultural, intergovernmental organization.

·As the internship programme is not connected with the recruitment process, the granting of an internship should not be interpreted in any way as a preliminary step towards employment with the Organization.
